Edition 10: Recognizing Your Blind Spots and Trying to Stay Sane
We all love to lean in on our strengths, but when it comes to building a business, that's a shallow approach to take to ensure long-term growth.
Here are some of the things we tell ourselves:
I’m a decent writer. I hate numbers.
I love writing. I can’t crunch numbers to save my life.
I’m an awful designer. All hail Canva!
These things we tell ourselves or have a vague awareness of are our blind spots. They’re areas we recognize we need to improve out of the sides of our eyes, but more often than not, we choose to ignore them and lean in on our strengths.
We may flirt a little with improving the skills we think are weak, but we fail to enter into a committed relationship to improve upon them, or better yet, delegate to have someone take those tasks off our hands.
Recognizing and Acting Upon These Blindspots Can Be a Superpower
Recognition of our blind spots can be a superpower. We all have a deep awareness of our strengths and talents. Understanding your blind spots, and better yet, what to do about them, is what separates the ambitious from the successful.
Ambitious people stay on the grind leaning on their strengths and doing their best to mitigate their weaknesses. Successful people leverage their strengths but also have the bravery to stare their blind spots straight in the face and say, "you're done!"
If you have a few blind spots nagging at you: Be brave. Take steps. Kick them to the curb.
It might be painful in the process. But, the result and your increased clarity will be well worth it.
Continuing to Create Content That Struggles Is the Definition of Insanity
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If you're publishing content that doesn't drive the results you're looking for, given this, I could argue you're insane.
The problem is, this happens far too often.
You plow ahead creating content you don't like creating, and that doesn't drive results.
Why?
Because:
1. It's how you’ve always done it.
2. You don't know when or how to make a shift.
3. You don't have the time to execute a shift, even if you know what that shift would look like.
Content strategy isn't always about creating NEW content. That's only true if there's ZERO content on the table to examine. Sometimes the most powerful content strategy is a complete overhaul of content you've already created.
And with it, finding a new perspective with which to experiment. After all, wouldn't you rather be seen as a mad scientist than the hamster spinning on its wheel?
If your content is struggling: Re-examine. Re-frame. Re-start.
Don't continue to drive yourself insane chasing what isn't working.

Need Help Taking Your LinkedIn Game to the Next Level? I Can Help.
As a solopreneur or small business owner, time is the most valuable commodity. So there's a constant evolution in the priority of the work to be done. Content creation isn't a priority for one of several reasons.
You're experiencing one of these four mindsets:
1. I try to create content, but it doesn't "sound" like me.
2. Other people make content seem easy. It's not easy for me.
3. My connections find ideas with no problem and create constantly.
4. I don't have time to dedicate to content. It's probably something I should be doing, but where is the time?
You haven't created content - or stayed consistent with it - because it's on the back-burner due to all of the other hats you're wearing.
Or, you're stuck in analysis paralysis.
Or flat-out annoyed other people make it easy.
If this is gnawing away at you, we understand.
The good news is:
There's a solution.
Through Zanate Ventures, I provide custom-tailored coaching, batch content creation, done with you and done for you content strategy & ghostwriting services for solopreneurs, executive coaches, and small business owners.
Curious how I work?
Til next week:
Take some time to recognize your blind spots and act on them to improve, or better yet, to delegate.
Stop being insane with your content. If something isn’t working, kick it to the curb and try something new. What do you have to lose?
Force yourself to have a childlike mind now and then. Sit in it, and remember what you wanted to be when you grew up.
Also, I’d LOVE to hear your feedback about Content Notes!
Like the GIFs? Think they’re annoying as hell?
Taking any value out of the content?
Too afraid to unsubscribe even though you hate it?
Hit me up at kris@krishughes.com and let me know.
I want to make this what y’all want it to be, so we all have a good time with it!
Happy Weekend!
