Edition 12: Learning to Love the Middle Ground and Finding the Right Hero
It's tempting to ride the waves of highs and lows as a content creator, and to think that consistency is what matters most. Both are slippery slopes.
I got no likes or comments on this post. It sucks. I suck.
This post went through the roof! I’m a social media superstar!
Neither is true. You don’t suck. You are not a social media superstar. Like that vast majority of us in the social media “middle class,” you have highs and lows. Posts that inspire chirping crickets. Posts that inspire viral awe.
You Need to Learn to Love the Middle Ground
It’s fine to recognize the struggles and successes your content brings along, but it’s unhealthy to dwell on either for too long.
If something goes well, take a moment to celebrate. If something sucks, take a moment to sit in the struggle and see if you can figure out what can be tweaked to improve in the future. But, whatever you do, don’t dwell on either for too long.
As I’ve preached a quadrillion times, content is a very long game, and living in the middle ground is the best place to be.
Who knows? Maybe Vin will meet you there someday, and you can film Fast and Furious 90 Trillion: Burnout in the Middle Ground together.
A boy can dream.
Despite What You Hear, Consistency Isn’t All That Matters
Consistency can’t occur in a vacuum. So if you’re posting every single day, twice a day, that’s fine, but it’s only half the battle.
You’re doing something misguided with consistency… if…
You don’t know the hero in the story. We are not the hero. Our products and services are not heroes. The bells and whistles you believe separate you from the competition are not the heroes. Your potential clients are the hero.
The content you create is to help that hero on their journey, with you acting as a guide. If you haven’t identified your hero and why the content you create will guide them, it doesn’t matter how consistent you’re being.
The Solopreneur Spotlight Series is Heating Up!
Episode No. 2 of the Solopreneur Spotlight Series was so fun! I had a fantastic conversation with Kristi Mitchell and learned a ton about her marketing business, challenges, and successes as a solopreneur.
Next week, I’m welcoming the AVP of Vets2Industry, Alex Mimms.
Alex and I will chat about how he helps military veterans transition to the work world following their careers, and to build a powerful personal brand through social media.
Thanks to everyone who has joined us live over the first few weeks and left insightful comments and thought-provoking questions for us to answer. I really appreciate y’all!

As a solopreneur, small business owner, or executive coach, time is the most valuable commodity. There's a constant evolution in the priority of the work to be done.
Content creation isn't a priority for one of several reasons.
You're experiencing one of these four mindsets:
1. I try to create content, but it doesn't "sound" like me.
2. Other people make content seem easy. It's not easy for me.
3. My connections find ideas with no problem and create constantly.
4. I don't have time to dedicate to content. It's probably something I should be doing, but where is the time?
You haven't created content - or stayed consistent with it - because it's on the back-burner due to all of the other hats you're wearing.
Or, you're stuck in analysis paralysis.
Or flat-out annoyed other people make it easy.
If this is gnawing away at you, we understand.
The good news is:
There's a solution.
Through Zanate Ventures, I provide custom-tailored coaching, batch content creation, done with you and done for you content strategy & ghostwriting services for solopreneurs, executive coaches, and small business owners.
Curious how I work?
Til next week:
Learn to love the middle ground. Don’t dwell too long in the highs or lows that content provides, or you’ll drive yourself crazy.
Consistency isn’t all that matters. Consistently creating content that props you up as a guide to make your hero’s journey easier is the other half of the battle.
Also, I’d LOVE to hear your feedback about Content Notes!
Like the GIFs? Think they’re annoying as hell?
Taking any value out of the content?
Too afraid to unsubscribe even though you hate it?

I want to make this what y’all want it to be, so we all have a good time with it!
Happy Weekend!
