Edition 18: There's No Such Thing as Free Time and Finding the Tools to Make Life Easy
The notion of "free time" is a falseshood. All time is free. With the right tools, life is much easier, and less stressful, and time truly is in our control.
The reason why I started a business was to win back more time.
I don’t have enough time to live my life. Every minute is accounted for.
When I have more free time, everything will feel different.
Free time is a falsehood.
There was a time when all of our time as humans was "free time." As a species, we were leavers. Using what we needed. Sharing for subsistence. Leaving the rest.
Eventually, we evolved into takers. Doing exactly the opposite. Hoarding food and resources and creating classes. Wars were fought over these new concepts and still are.
Classes were perpetuated by locking away food. When we locked away food, which was always free, work was created. People now had to work to access what was already theirs by birthright. Those who could effectively hoard food and resources dominate time.
It's a great goal to want more free time. But remember, our time always has been "free." Our institutions and infrastructure are what make it seem otherwise.
Be a leaver. Not a taker. Use what you need and nothing more.
Help people rise up to improve their station in life.
Recognize that our freedom as humans is in the time we own.
It's ours.
Make the most of it.

Quality Writing Has NOTHING To Do With Format, and Everything to Do With Context
Above is a live-action clip of content coaches & gurus marking your name off their “quality content creator” list because they dislike your style.
Whatever.
Quality writing has NOTHING to do with the format you use for content. It has everything to do with the flow you create for your reader and the context behind the content.
Our goal as content creators should be to create value. We create value when we work within the constraints of a natural style and allows the words to flow from our fingertips.
There’s no right way to write. There’s only YOUR way.

Introducing a Workshop: Building Awareness Through Proven LinkedIn & Content Strategies
After a long time as a lurker, I fully dug into LinkedIn a year ago.
My early content was awful. But it improved quickly.
Now, my content here is 100% the driver of my business growth.
So many people helped me along the way.
It would take me days to shout out all of them.
But most know who they are, and they're appreciated.
I'll hit my first $10K month this month.
The clients with whom I work ALL came from LinkedIn.
I haven't spent one dime on advertising.
All of the interest has been organic.
Partially due to content strategy and application.
Both of which helped me drive 920K views in the past 14 months.
But also through the methodical, intentional way, I build relationships.
So many people shared so much with me early in my path.
So now I want to do the same for y'all.
I'm hosting a two-night intensive workshop, Building Awareness Through Proven LinkedIn & Content Strategies, on the evenings of Wednesday, September 8th, and Thursday, September 9th via Zoom.
This workshop will cover:
* How to properly optimize your LinkedIn profile for search
* A content strategy based on the TVD Matrix and leaning in on your WHY
* Tricks and tactics to make your daily engagement work worth it
* Intentional relationship-building techniques
* Repurposing, republishing, and refining content for success
... and much, much more
You'll walk away from the intensive with:
* A recording of the intensive for future reference
* An outline of everything we covered in the intensive, and
* A free one-hour meeting with me to talk about anything on your mind
* A free four-month membership to my new mini-community on LinkedIn, Content Snacks
If you're unavailable to join live, no problem!
A full recording of the intensive will be available via a YouTube private link by mid-September!
To join the waitlist, fill out the simple Airtable form linked below.
I’m closing the waitlist on September 1st!!
I hope to work with you in the intensive!!
Til next week:
All our time is free. It’s yours to use and capitalize upon. So quit making the distinction between the time that does and doesn’t belong to you.
Find the right tools to streamline your workflow. Of course, you’ll have to burn through some duds, but you’ll find the good ones through trying as many as possible and checking out other people’s suggestions.
Quality writing has nothing to do with the format; it has everything to do with context. Naturally create content, and your knowledge will flow through that style authentically.
Also, I’d LOVE to hear your feedback about Content Notes!
Like the GIFs? Think they’re annoying as hell?
Taking any value out of the content?
Too afraid to unsubscribe even though you hate it?
Hit me up at kris@krishughes.com and let me know.
I want to make this what y’all want it to be, so we all have a good time with it!
Happy Weekend!
